adding domain name in /etc/hosts to speed up site

hi,

we fetch some data from one app from a separate app within the same domain. would it make sense to add

[172.0.0.10](https://172.0.0.10) [example.com](https://example.com)

to the /etc/hosts file to speed up dns fetching?

and would this affect all links on our site when people click on www.example.com/new-page ?

or are the links being fetched in the browser and the user’s own browser then looks up the DNS (i suspect this is the case 🙂

many thanks
