Any useful articles or other resources about balancing authority and approachability?

In other words, adding warmth and relatability to an already authoritative expert image, to make it more inviting, less prohibitive, less distant, less intimidating — so that people use you for actual jobs rather than viewing you as a sort of teacher’s teacher, consultant’s consultant or arbitrator of disputes between their experts, or an overqualified person — but without overdoing the human side to a point where someone with half your skill or seniority begins to look like a more authoritative professional than you are and will get the job instead of you. In short, striking the right balance.

I would like some reading recommendations to educate myself a bit on the subject before (if at all) starting a topic to discuss the application of this knowledge to my specific case.
