The client had no issue paying my first invoice but the final month they disappeared. They told me it was a funding issue but that they had finally gotten the cash and were going to mail me a check. That was over two months ago.
The project was over back in August and I’m really getting annoyed now. It’s the end of the year and I want to close my books.
Is this worth contacting a lawyer? Have you ever been in this position? If so, how did you handle it?
Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone. Even though I have mentioned possibly posting to social media warning other freelancers about this client, I more than likely won’t do that. It isn’t my style. It has the potential to get messy and even cast a negative light on me.
But what I WILL DO is contact a lawyer. $10k is too much to ignore. I busted my ass for them. Wish me luck!
