Half-VPS [spinupwp, Serverpilot], or shared hosting + CPanel [Nixihost, GnuHost, Krystal]? I’m coming from Hostgator + CPanel, so either an improvement, but which best?

I’ve been hosted at Hostgator for many years, and I feel comfortable with CPanel. Now it’s finally time to move on, with a budget of around $15 per month (that may scale up in the future if things work out), to host about 5 WordPress sites at present. I’d obviously like to have the sites run fast, to keep a good degree of ability to interact with the server, but not to invest the time required in fully managing a VPS.

What do you think is the best route to go? Will a Half-VPS with Vultr be faster, and still allow me to interact with the server easily, or will I miss CPanel? *(or am I reading how this works completely wrong?)*
