Need some advice please

So I’ve been with Bluehost since 2018 and I really loved them initially. However, they are constantly increasing prices without notifying us & I’m tired of it — especially bc I have basic hosting.

I used to sell art & I took a year break, so I don’t see the point in paying for a host anymore for a while. I want to backup my site & download the content for when I’m ready to get back on.

I’d like to keep my domain so I’m going to continue to pay for it yearly (only $20). But I read somewhere that your registrar and host should be different.

1. Why? Does it matter, or can I just keep paying for my domain with Bluehost? I think I’m going to find a different host when I’m ready to open my site again.

2. WordPress is the content mgmt platform I use. I stuck with it since it’s all I’ve used to blog and attached WooCommerce to it. Would you guys suggest a different platform or is WordPress fine? I’d still consider myself a beginner so I didn’t know if there was a beginner-friendly option out there.

Thanks in advance!
