I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I freelanced for a single client (pretty heavily \~15 hours per week) between 2020-2021 and it was fab. Now, I’ve been trying to find clients to start up my own thing and it’s going NOWHERE.
I feel like I’ve tried literally every avenue of trying to find clients and I’ve got nothing.
I’ve tried the sites, the LinkedIn posts, the cold emails, etc. etc. I’ve created pieces solely for building up my portfolio, offered discounts/free samples…still nothing. 99.9% of the time I don’t get any response at all. It feels like the issue isn’t my quality of work, but just getting out to people.
Has anyone else experienced this type of burnout? It’s a side gig for me, but gosh, I just want to do it and it’s super disheartening.
Mostly, this is just me venting. Maybe someone has an uplifting story of this happening to them and then turning around. If not, maybe freelancing isn’t for me.
