Shared Hosting with a WordPress website- Is all of it slow?

I’m currently on a ultra-basic shared hosting plan with HawkHost and have been with them since 2018. They’ve never given me problems (from an uptime perspective), but my WordPress site has become more advanced and HawkHost’s server cpu usage spikes to 100% whenever I edit a page, or when more than one person views the website at a time. Basically the website has become too slow and I belive I need more horsepower.

Is this the nature of a shared hosting plan? I don’t get a ton of traffic (around 20-50 unique visits per day – wedding photographer), but I can’t have these visitors experience a sluggish website.
